Omega Centenary Watch
|
| |
The Omega Museum celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2004. In recognition of this milestone, Omega chose a watch with an even greater historical significance for its annual Museum Collection piece. The fifth watch in this collection is a reproduction of the Centenary watch produced for the company's 100th birthday in 1948, which was also the first self-winding Omega wrist chronometer. The Centenary watch has an 18kt red gold case, measuring 36mm, with distinctive lyre-shaped lugs. It comes with a brown leather strap and a gold buckle. The coppered dial has zones separated by a classic "railway" minute track. The hour ring has applied 12 and 6 Arabic numerals, applied triangular hour markers at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock and applied lozenge hour markers for the remaining hours. The hands are polished beveled Dauphine with a countersunk small seconds dial on circular snailing in the center zone above 6 o'clock. The crystal is sapphire with AR coating. Movement is the automatic Omega caliber 2202, a chronometer movement with Co-Axial Escapement. It has a power reserve of 48 hours and a rhodium-plated finish. The watch is produced in a limited series of 1,948 individually numbered pieces to correspond with the year of the original. It is water resistant to 30 meters.
